Imagine waking up in Lake Balaton's liveliest town, yet in a quiet, green area. Aranypart Camping & Apartments is not just accommodation, but a base: you can experience the beauty of the southern shore, Siófok's three hundred years of history, active adventures and family-friendly experiences, all starting from here.
In this guide, we introduce Siófok and the area’s attractions so you can find activities suited to you, regardless of the weather.
Siófok is not just a holiday town, but also a transport, cultural and tourist hub. As early as the 1055 Tihany founding charter, the settlement is mentioned under the name “Fok,” and during the Roman era, water regulation works took place here. At the turn of the 19th century, railways, steam navigation, and water management made Siófok the "capital of Lake Balaton."
The 41.3-meter-high water tower was built in 1912 and remains a symbol of the town today. The modern town has a 17 km long coastline, from where most of the boat traffic departs and from where the entire southern coast can be reached.
From the campsite and holiday resort, you can access the long, grassy beach for free through five exits, one of the largest public beaches in Siófok. Shady trees provide a pleasant resting spot during the summer heat, and the beach also offers showers, restrooms, buffets, a playground, and sports equipment rental.
The cycling path runs 100–150 metres behind the beach, making it ideal for both longer rides and shorter family trips.
The promenade, town centre and harbour are just a few minutes’ walk from the campsite.
Aranypart Camping & Apartments is open from April to October, making early spring blooms and the Indian summer perfect times for relaxation.
The Bamboo Island waterski and wakeboard course is located only 80 metres from the campsite. On a 1 km cable course, you can try waterskiing, monoskiing, landlock, wakeboarding and wakeskating. The course starts from a 460 m² jetty equipped with sun loungers, umbrellas and a snack bar. Experienced instructors are available all day, and beginners can also be provided with equipment. For up-to-date opening hours, check their Facebook page.
Just a few minutes from the campsite, Galerius Adventure Spa has been a favourite water paradise in the town since 2006. It has been under renovation since 2021, but the work is nearing completion. The renovation includes a new roof and complete mechanical systems, a modern exterior facade, relaxation islands, sun loungers, a cocktail terrace and a playground. Inside, a completely new sauna world and Beauty SPA will be built, featuring couple massages, private relaxation zones, a jacuzzi and a light therapy bath. Technical handover began in January 2026, with reopening planned for March 2026. On rainy days, this new bath will be the perfect retreat.
The icon of Siófok town centre, the Water Tower was built in 1912. Today it functions as a modern lookout and exhibition space; the panoramic lift offers 360° views of Lake Balaton and the town. Open year-round, from the top you can see the southern shore horizon, the harbour, and Aranypart.
Siófok’s most famous composer, Kálmán Imre, is celebrated at the Memorial House, which showcases his life’s work. The exhibition is a great choice in spring or autumn if you’re looking for a quieter indoor activity. You can also purchase a combined ticket with the Water Tower.
The Great Beach is the town’s central beach, offering daytime swimming as well as evening concerts and sports activities. The paid section of the beach operates from 9:00 to 18:00 during the season, but the Plázs stage is free to visit in the evenings. You’ll also find a water slide park, sports courts, a playground, and a Ferris wheel. The beach stretches along Petőfi Promenade in the town centre.
Siófok Harbour is one of the key hubs for boating on Lake Balaton. From Easter to late autumn, scheduled services run to destinations such as Balatonfüred and Tihany, and sightseeing and themed cruises are also available. A morning or evening boat trip can easily be included in your holiday itinerary.
Located next to the harbour, the Rose Garden is one of the most beautiful waterfront areas in town. In summer, you can enjoy blooming roses, shaded benches, and direct views of Lake Balaton. From here, the green promenade of Jókai Park begins, providing a pleasant route towards the town centre. This area is particularly suitable for an evening walk or a quiet waterfront rest.
The Ferris Wheel near the town centre is an experience on its own. As the cabin slowly rises, it reveals panoramic views of Lake Balaton and the town. It is especially spectacular at sunset, when the water’s surface turns golden.
During the summer, Petőfi Promenade is one of the liveliest areas of the town. Restaurants, terraces, and live music venues line the street, so if you’re looking for an evening programme, you’re sure to find something here.
Located 5 km from the campsite, Bella Zoo Park is home to camels, alpacas, capybaras, kangaroos, pygmy goats, and other exotic animals. Spread over 30,000 m², the park offers horse and camel rides as well as opportunities to pet the animals, making it fun for both children and adults.
Located on the border of Siófok and Zamárdi, this adventure park demonstrates the water cycle. You can start a fountain by cycling, build water pipelines, and walk along the “path of water” educational trail.
íz útja” tanösvényen.
Located in the South Balaton Cultural Centre, the Egg Museum features an exhibition of hand-painted decorative eggs and egg-painting workshops. A fulfilling activity even on shorter rainy days.
This unusual attraction is a house built upside down, with furniture hanging above your head. It never fails to delight children.
The 204 km cycle path around Lake Balaton can be started from any point, but Siófok is an ideal starting location. On the flat southern shore, you can choose short, family-friendly sections of 10–30 km. The route is signposted, with rest stops and catering options along the way.
In the wooded and marshy valley of Töreki, near Siófok, an 8.5 km nature trail showcases wetlands, meadows, and forests. The longest tour is 14 km, but shorter loops are available. A birdwatching tower, resting benches, and fire pits make the hike comfortable.
In Siófok, you can enjoy watersports not only in summer. Spring and early autumn wind conditions are ideal for sailing. In autumn, the calmer waters of Lake Balaton offer a peaceful and romantic experience. From the harbour, numerous boat rentals and sailing schools operate; in addition, the Bamboo Island course offers adrenaline-filled activities such as wakeboarding, waterskiing, and other cable sports.
Built in 2000 on the site of an old wine press house, this circular lookout stands on a 220 m high hill, accessible via exterior stairs. From the top, you get a full panorama of Lake Balaton, stretching from the Tihany Peninsula to Balatonföldvár and Badacsony.
The Szántódrév–Tihanyrév ferry operates year-round (except in extreme weather), running hourly on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends. In Tihany, you can visit the Benedictine Abbey, the baroque church, and the tomb of King Andrew I; during the summer peak season, it is open from 9:00 to 18:00. The lavender fields of the Tihany Peninsula bloom in June.
An elegant small town to the west, featuring a harbour, promenade, and a boating museum. You can enjoy the panoramic views while strolling along the waterfront.
